Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said the government is preparing to develop Nepal Police Hospital into a medical college.
In a message issued on Friday to mark the 71st Police Day, Shah said the government had prioritised strengthening police capacity, adopting modern technology and developing infrastructure. His message was read out by Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki at the ceremony.
“The government is committed to making Nepal Police more capable in disaster management, modern technology, training and infrastructure. Priorities include developing the police hospital into a medical college, controlling cyber and financial crimes, and expanding the use of artificial intelligence and modern security systems,” the message said.
Shah highlighted the police force’s important role in maintaining internal peace and security. He said police personnel must maintain public trust through patience, sound decision-making and effective performance, particularly during crises.
The prime minister also thanked friendly nations and development partners for their support in strengthening Nepal Police.
