Gorkha, October 11

A large flash flood carrying silt and gravel has hit the Budhigandaki River, which flows through Gorkha’s Chumnubri Rural Municipality.

Chumnubri Rural Municipality Deputy Chair Laxmi Gurung said the flood that hit the Budhigandaki this morning is reminiscent of the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.

In a brief conversation with Onlinekhabar, she likened the Budhigandaki flood to the devastating flood that hit the Bhotekoshi in Rasuwa on August 26.

“The Budhigandaki flood is reminiscent of the Bhotekoshi flood,” she said. “It has washed away dozens of houses. It is not possible to say the exact extent of the damage right now.”
