The government has declared local governments affected by floods and landslides between Asoj 8 and 11 as disaster-hit areas.
The Ministry of Home Affairs published a notice in the Nepal Gazette declaring various rural municipalities and municipal wards in Gorkha, Manang, Myagdi, Baglung, Parbat and Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) as disaster-hit areas. The declaration is expected to facilitate the delivery of international relief supplies to the affected areas.
In Gorkha, Wards 3 and 4 of Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality have been included on the list. In Manang, the designated areas are Chame Rural Municipality, Naso Rural Municipality and Wards 1 and 4 of Manang Disyang Rural Municipality.
In Myagdi, the designated areas include Annapurna, Raghuganga, Mangala, Dhaulagiri and Malika rural municipalities, as well as Beni Municipality.
In Baglung, the declaration covers Wards 4 and 6 of Nisikhola Rural Municipality, Badigad Rural Municipality, Wards 3 and 4 of Tamankhola Rural Municipality, and Tarakhola Rural Municipality.
In Parbat, the designated areas are Jaljala Rural Municipality; Wards 2, 3, 7, 8, 10 and 11 of Phalebas Municipality; Ward 6 of Bihadi Rural Municipality; Wards 5 and 6 of Mahashila Rural Municipality; and Wards 2 and 3 of Modi Rural Municipality.
Ward 5 of Susta Rural Municipality in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) has also been included on the list.
The government has declared the areas disaster-hit zones for three months.
