Two-day holiday for schools in Biratnagar due to risk of heavy rain

Biratnagar

Biratnagar, September 24

In view of the potential risk from continuous rainfall, Biratnagar Metropolitan City has given schools a two-day holiday.

The Metropolitan City’s Educational Administration Division announced that schools will remain closed today and tomorrow.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s forecast, heavy to very heavy rain is likely across the country from September 24 to 27.

Given the risk of rising water levels in rivers and streams, flooding of settlements and roads, and road obstruction during this period, the division said the decision to close schools was made for the safety of students and the general public.

The metropolitan city has also asked school administrations to keep school buildings safe and ready for use as temporary shelters if needed in the event of a disaster.

Pokhara Metropolitan City has also declared a two-day local holiday for schools in view of the risk from the rain.
