Kathmandu, September 18
Dr. CK Raut has been elected national president of the Janmat Party. As part of the party’s second general convention, nomination filings took place on Thursday, and since Dr. Raut was the only candidate for president, he was declared elected unopposed.
While the president’s post was uncontested, elections are expected for other positions. The party’s second general convention will be held in Birgunj on September 25–26.
According to the preliminary list of candidates, 14 people have filed for the 7 vice president posts.
Candidates for vice president include Basant Kumar Kushwaha (Rautahat), Anita Sah (Dhanusha), Anita Mandal (Siraha), Dr. Jaykant Raut (Saptari), Narendra Prasad Chaudhary (Kapilvastu), and Madhav Prasad Singh (Parsa).
Also contesting for the same post are Raj Kumar Yadav Tyagi (Siraha), Dr. Kamrullah Ansari (Bara), Sanjay Kumar Mishra (Rupandehi), Madhnesh Kumar Chaudhary (Saptari), Parmeshwar Murmu (Morang), Rosan Khatun (Bara), Harpal Singh Sodhi (Banke), and Manohari Devi Baitha (Sarlahi).
According to Rajesh Kumar Mandal, member secretary of the Janmat Party Central Election Committee, three candidates, Mamata Jha (Saptari), Chandan Kumar Singh (Mahottari), and Sanjay Kumar Yadav (Siraha), are contesting for the single general secretary post.
For the single deputy general secretary post, Nirmal Kumar Mandal (Siraha) and Lalitchandra Mallik (Rautahat) are contesting.
For the 7 secretary posts, 10 candidates have filed nominations: Santosh Kumar Sahani (Dhanusha), Surendra Sharma Madhesi (Saptari), Harendra Chaudhary (Rautahat), Anjani Devi (Mahottari), Rohit Mahato (Siraha), Paras Prasad Sah (Bara), Radha Kumari Yadav (Banke), Bal Govind Chaudhary (Nawalparasi), Birendra Mahato (Jeevan Tyagi) (Mahottari), and Rambabu Sah (Bara).
