Kathmandu, August 31
Technical officials from the Department of Roads have conducted an on-site inspection of the 10-kilometre road section from Trishuli Bazaar to Betrawati Bazaar in Nuwakot.
The inspection found that the Trishuli River had completely washed away four kilometres of the road. Around six kilometres of the road remains usable and can be reopened to traffic after debris is cleared.
According to the department, the technical team travelled on foot from Trishuli Bazaar to Betrawati and is identifying a suitable location in Betrawati for installing a Bailey bridge.
The Department of Roads is preparing to install a Bailey bridge at Betrawati. Once the bridge is installed, it will reconnect the road to the Rasuwa national highway. Rasuwa is currently connected through an alternative route, but travel along the route remains difficult.
An estimated 40 kilometres of roads have been completely washed away in Rasuwa alone. The road from Betrawati to Rasuwagadhi has sustained extensive damage.
