
According to Xinhua, 16 people have been confirmed dead, and 546 others remain missing as of 6 p.m. Saturday after a mudslide struck Gyirong Port on the China-Nepal border in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region on August 26.
While in Nepal, the bodies of 734 people who went missing in the same devastating disaster have been discovered.
The bodies were recovered from Rasuwa (13), Nuwakot (52), Dhading (50), Gorkha (58), Nawalparasi East (184), Nawalparasi West (82), Tanahun (36) and Chitwan (259).
