Police issue alert after another lake burst on Tibetan side

Kathmandu, August 28

Nepal Police has issued an alert after another lake burst was reported in Tibetan territory.

Police issued the notice just now, urging all security personnel involved in rescue operations, as well as the general public, to remain alert immediately.

Rasuwa’s Chief District Officer, Narendra Pariyar, also confirmed that information about the lake burst had come from the Chinese side.

CDO Pariyar told Online Khabar, “We’ve received information from the Chinese side that the dammed lake has burst. A circular has already gone out asking residents along the riverbanks to stay safe.”

A large lake formed near the confluence of the Chochen Khola and Purepu Tsangpo rivers in China has burst.

The Chochen Khola and Purepu are known as upper tributaries of the Trishuli River system.
