The Nepali Congress has collected more than Rs 27.5 million to provide relief and support to families affected by the flood in the Bhotekoshi River.
The financial report that treasurer Umesh Shrestha presented at the closed session of the party’s 15th General Convention on Monday says Rs 28,172,974 has been collected for relief and support to flood-affected families.
Treasurer Shrestha said in the report that the money was collected from active members and well-wishers, both inside and outside Nepal. Of that amount, the Congress had deposited Rs 10 million in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Rescue Fund.
The report also says the remaining Rs 18,172,974 is held in Nepal Bank and eSewa.
“The remaining amount will also be mobilised for relief and rehabilitation work in line with the relevant decisions and needs,” the report says.
