Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged an immediate joint effort in rescue, relief, and recovery for citizens affected by floods and landslides in Rasuwa and the areas along the Bhotekoshi River.

Expressing sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by the natural disaster, Bhandari called on the government, security agencies, local governments, political parties, civil society organisations, and the general public to make the rescue of affected citizens their top priority.

She drew the attention of relevant authorities to the urgent need to deliver food, healthcare, temporary shelter, and other essential relief supplies to the affected areas, as well as to relocate at-risk residents to safer locations.

She stressed that, in this difficult hour of crisis, all sides need to unite in humanitarian service to provide the affected families with the support they need.

Former President Bhandari also said that greater coordination among relevant agencies is necessary to make the search and rescue of missing citizens more effective.

She paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the disaster and extended her condolences to their families.
