A total of 64 bodies of people who died in the floods have so far been recovered in Chitwan, according to the Chitwan District Police Office.
Acting Information Officer and Police Inspector Manish Shrestha said more bodies could be recovered as the search operation is still underway.
Health institutions in Chitwan have informed the police that they have a maximum capacity to store 50 bodies.
“As the search for bodies is ongoing and there is a shortage of space to store them, measures must be taken to safeguard the bodies in accordance with the emergency management strategy,” Chitwan police said.
Police also urged the public to inform the nearest security agency if any bodies are found and requested people not to share graphic images of the bodies through social media or the news media, saying such images could cause distress, fear and panic among the public.
