Kathmandu, August 26
A massive flash flood in the Bhote Koshi River has caused extensive physical and human damage across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
The flood, which entered Nepal from the Chinese side, swept away settlements along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers, damaging roads, bridges and major hydropower projects.
The government has declared the three affected districts disaster crisis zones and intensified search and rescue operations.
Several sections of highways have also been washed away, while major hydropower projects in the affected areas have sustained damage.
