Pokhara, August 19
Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth has arrived in Pokhara during his visit to Nepal.
Seth is scheduled to meet Indian ex-servicemen and their families at the Indian Pension Camp in Rambazar, Pokhara, where he will also deliver a brief address.
His visit comes days after former Indian soldiers staged a protest in Pokhara over the recruitment of Agniveers under India’s Agnipath scheme.
The former soldiers and their families have therefore been closely following the Indian Army chief’s visit.
Seth is also scheduled to distribute specially adapted scooters to former Indian soldiers who sustained disabilities while serving in the Indian Army.
Around 64,000 former Indian soldiers and their family members are affiliated with the Indian Pension Camp in Pokhara and receive their pensions through the facility.
Across Nepal, around 135,000 former Indian soldiers receive pensions, according to the figures provided.
