Prisoners at Morang District Prison have staged a protest. They climbed onto the rooftop and demonstrated after police began a search operation inside the prison.
Police began the search around 5 am on Monday at the district prison, located in Ward 8 of Biratnagar Metropolitan City. Morang’s Chief District Officer Yubaraj Katel and Morang Police Chief SP Kavit Katwal, along with their team, are at the prison.
Alongside the search, the administration had been preparing to transfer an associate of Abhishek Giri, a figure with a controversial reputation, out of the prison.
However, once the police team began the search, prisoners in Block “B” obstructed the police and staged a protest. The prisoners allege that the administration has repeatedly harassed them.
