Due to floods and landslides in various districts across the country, the main highways were blocked at nine locations as of 6:55 am Monday. According to details released by the Nepal Police, some roads are completely closed, while others have one-way traffic.
In Koshi Province, one-way traffic is running on the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur due to flooding. The Mechi Highway in Ilam (Rajduwali–Talchajung road) is completely blocked due to continuous rainfall. Police have said an alternative route can be used for this road.
Similarly, under the Mid-Hill Highway in Khotang, the road is completely closed in the Mattim area of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi–6 due to a landslide.
In Bagmati Province, on the BP Highway’s Khurkot–Nepalthok–Kavrebhanjyang section in Kavre, vehicle movement has been completely halted from 6 pm Monday to 4 am Tuesday due to the risk of possible flooding. Police say that from 4 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, traffic will resume after the situation is assessed.
In Sindhupalchok, there is complete blockage at two locations due to landslides — on the road to Tatopani in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4, and at Kodari in Ward No. 2 on the Araniko Highway.
On Kantilokpath (Hetauda–Bhimphedi–Bagmati–Lalitpur section) in Makwanpur as well, all types of vehicles are barred from operating between 5 pm and 5 am due to the risk of possible flooding and landslides.
Similarly, one-way traffic is operating in the Bogtekhola area of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-4 in Rasuwa’s Pasang Lhamu road section due to a landslide.
Nepal Police has also reported that transportation is completely blocked due to landslides on the Kaligandaki Corridor road section in Baglung, Gandaki Province, and on the Mahakali Highway in Darchula, Sudurpaschim Province.
Police have urged people to check road conditions before travelling and to exercise caution in risk-prone areas.
