The Department of Immigration has urged Nepali citizens travelling abroad for foreign employment to proceed with their journey only after obtaining labour approval.
Issuing a press statement, the department said that some Nepali workers holding labour visas have been arriving at the immigration desk at Tribhuvan International Airport after merely applying for labour approval at the Department of Foreign Employment, without receiving the final approval.
The department stated that this practice causes inconvenience to workers, as they are unable to receive departure clearance from immigration without a valid labour approval. It has therefore requested that workers ensure their labour approval has been issued before coming to the airport.
According to the department, some workers mistakenly believe their labour approval has already been granted when, in reality, only an application has been submitted on their behalf by another person. In many cases, the workers themselves are unaware of the actual status of their application.
The Immigration Department has advised all Nepalis travelling abroad on labour visas to verify that their labour approval has been officially issued before making travel arrangements.
It also clarified that immigration authorities cannot grant departure permission to workers travelling on labour visas if their labour permit application has been submitted but not yet approved.
