Kathmandu, March 15
Three out of five candidates nominated by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) under the Muslim cluster in the proportional representation category are set to become members of the House of Representatives.
The RSP had nominated five candidates from the Muslim community in the closed list submitted to the Election Commission under the proportional representation system. The list includes two men and three women.
The candidates are Saiyyad Wakar Ahmad Shah from Banke, Mirza Rashid Beg from Kapilvastu, Samina Miya from Chitwan, Afsana Ban from Kathmandu, and Ghazala Shamim Mokrani from Rautahat.
Among them, three candidates will be elected through the proportional representation system. Out of the 57 seats secured by the RSP under proportional representation, 48 are set to be filled by women.
Since only nine men will be selected from the 57 seats allocated to the party, the number of women elected from the Muslim cluster is also expected to be higher.
