Resham Chaudhary’s candidacy cancelled

Kathmandu, January 22

The candidacy of Resham Chaudhary, Patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) Nepal, has been cancelled. Chaudhary had filed his nomination from Kailali Constituency No. 1.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission is still reviewing a complaint filed against Lal Bikram Thapa, leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Complaints had been lodged against five candidates in total, three of whom have already been dismissed. Complaints against Rajib Khatri, RSP candidate from Bhaktapur Constituency No. 2, and Januka Pathak of the Nepal Janasewa Party have not yet been dismissed.

A complaint had also been filed against former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, which has now been dismissed. Nepal had filed his nomination from Rautahat Constituency No. 1.

The complaint against Lal Bikram Thapa, candidate from Sunsari Constituency No. 2, is still under discussion at the Election Commission.
