Malekhu (Dhading), December 12
The Nagdhunga–Malekhu road section, which has been partially closed for five hours daily due to ongoing upgradation works, will remain fully open on Friday and Saturday.
Authorities decided to lift all mobility restrictions in view of the inaugural session of the 11th National Congress of the CPN (UML).
The Nagdhunga–Muglin Road Project began partial closures on December 10, restricting movement from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm to facilitate construction work. The project office confirmed that the road will not be closed for the next two days.
Keshab Prasad Ojha, chief of the project’s eastern section, said the upgrade works would resume under the previous schedule after the two-day opening. “We were restricting vehicle movement for five hours daily from December 10 in coordination with the Dhading and Kathmandu district administration offices. Considering the expected traffic pressure during the UML’s National Congress, we decided not to close the road for two days,” he said.
A delegation from the Youth Association had met Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising on Wednesday, requesting that the road remain open to ease travel for those attending the party’s national congress.
