The Road Division Office, Hetauda has halted the main road expansion work, after an order issued by the Supreme Court for the same was received on Sunday.
Citing the order of the apex court, the Office has stated that the road expansion work has been halted for the time being. Respecting the order issued by the Supreme Court, the work of using dozers for road expansion has been halted for the time being, said Guru Prasad Adhikari, Chief of the Road Division Office, Hetauda.
The Office had issued a public notice last Friday to remove permanent and temporary houses and structures built within 25 yards from the center of the road on the East-West Highway from Ratmate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Khola Bridge and on the Tribhuvan Highway from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge within 15 days.
On Saturday, the Road Division Office demolished more than 500 houses and physical structures along the road boundary from Ratmate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge using dozers. Bindabasini Kansakar hadf filed the writ petition at the Supreme Court against the notice of demolition of structures within the road boundary.
