The share market rose in the final hours on Sunday. The NEPSE index, which picked up momentum after 2:30 pm, ultimately increased by 5.19 points, closing at 2,509 points. Earlier at 11:23 am, NEPSE had dropped to 2,470 points, marking the lowest point of the trading session.
Trading volume remained low, totaling Rs 266 million. On the last trading day before Tihar, the volume was Rs 279 million.
Out of 248 companies, 98 saw their prices rise, 146 fell, and 4 remained unchanged. The “Other” sector led gains, rising 3.05 per cent. Nepal Reinsurance’s 7.10 per cent increase contributed significantly to the surge in this sector.
Meanwhile, Life Insurance rose 0.61 per cent, Manufacturing & Processing 0.02 per cent, Non-Life Insurance 0.08 per cent, and Trading 0.81 per cent. On the other hand, Banking fell 0.35 per cent, Development Banks 0.29 per cent, Finance 0.72 per cent, Hotels & Tourism 0.57 per cent, Hydropower 0.33 per cent, Microfinance 0.23 per cent, and Investment 0.34 per cent.
Samata Domestic Microfinance recorded the highest gain at 8.89 per cent. Other notable increases included Himalayan Power Partner (7.63 per cent), Nepal Reinsurance (7.10 per cent), Women’s Microfinance (6.05 per cent), Crest MicroLife Insurance (5.70 per cent), and Bhugol Energy (5.08 per cent).
On the losing side, Taragaun Regency fell 7.16 per cent, Bhagwati Hydropower 7.13 per cent, Asian Hydropower 5.16 per cent, Unnati Sahakarya Microfinance 4.72 per cent, and Atmanirbhar Microfinance 4.62 per ent.
The most actively traded companies/securities today were Nepal Reinsurance, Siddhartha Bank Debenture 89, Union Hydropower, Himalayan Power Partner, and Himalayan Distillery.
