Kathmandu, October 13
The details of individuals going for foreign employment are now linked to the National Identity Card system (NIDMIS). With this integration, only the actual individual will be allowed to attend the orientation training, making physical presence mandatory.
Previously, there had been cases where someone else provided biometric details or the passport holder did not attend the orientation training in person. The Department of Foreign Employment stated that such irregularities will now be eliminated after linking the Foreign Employment Information Management System (FEIMS) with the National Identity Card and Registration Department’s system.
According to Kamal Prasad Bhattarai, Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment, individuals who wish to participate in the orientation training must now be registered with the National ID system and attend in person. Only after verifying a person’s identity will they be allowed to enroll in a training batch.
This system will become mandatory from October 15. While it will initially be implemented only for orientation training, the department plans to gradually integrate it into the labor permit, medical check-up, and immigration processes as well.
The new system is expected to help integrate data of foreign job seekers, provide them with necessary information and preparation, and make the overall foreign employment process more secure and systematic.
