The government has decided to lower the national flag and observe a national day of mourning in honour of those killed during the Gen-Z protests.
The decision was made by newly appointed Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal immediately after assuming office. It will be formally endorsed by the Cabinet. The exact date for the mourning day will also be determined by the Cabinet meeting.
In addition, Aryal announced that each family of the deceased will be provided with Rs 100,000 to cover funeral expenses.
