Nepal to face Scotland in first-ever T20I clash

Kathmandu, June 17

Nepal is playing its second match today against Scotland in the ongoing Tri-Nation T20I series in Scotland. The game will begin at 7:45 pm (Nepali time) in Glasgow.

Nepal is playing against Scotland in the T20 format after 12 years, and this will be their first-ever encounter in a T20 International (T20I). In the 2013 T20 World Cup Qualifier, Nepal had lost to Scotland by 8 wickets.

From Scotland’s squad of that time, Michael Leask and Safyaan Sharif are still part of the team. Richie Berrington, who played ODIs during the League 2 series back then, is not part of the current T20 squad.

Since gaining T20I status, Nepal has not played against Scotland. Therefore, this will be their first meeting in an official T20 International match.

Earlier, in their first match of the series, Nepal was defeated by the Netherlands in a thrilling contest that extended into the third Super Over.

Following the match against the Netherlands, Nepal also completed its 100th T20I game. In that match, Kiran Thagunna and Rupesh Singh made their T20I debuts as Nepal’s 50th and 51st players, respectively.

Meanwhile, Scotland defeated the Netherlands by 39 runs in their first match of the series.
