Dangbung trekking route of Ramprasad Rai rural municipality in the district has become a busy way for the tourists in recent time. Dangbung is called rhododendron (laligurans) in local language.
The sight of scenic beauty from this route enchants the visitors. The rhododendron, the national flower, and meadows on the one hand and local organic taste served by the indigenous people are contributing to more footfalls along this path.
A local Jagdish Rai said the tourists were for relishing natural beauty, and cuisines made of locally produced items. The construction of trekking has helped in marketing of the trade. “Dangbung trekking route has resulted in a huge rise in tourists’ arrival,” he shared happiness.
Importantly, the Sagarmatha, the Makalu, and the Kanchanjungha peaks and various ridges are visible from this hilly route. Even the southern plains can be viewed in distant.
Ward no 1 chairman of Ramprasad Rai rural municipality, Jogendra Rai, said the trekking route was constructed in a bid to promote both domestic and foreign tourism along with conservation of national flower, laligurans. “We’ve further planned to promote it as a major tourist destination,” he shared.
Rai said even the tourism activities could be boosted here, thereby linking to national economy. So far, Rs 7 million was spent in building this trekking route, according to him.
The route for trekkers was established under Nepal climate model programme, the local level said. It is a 7-km-long route. It would be further extended by incorporating the religious and touristy places.
The future plan includes establishment of homestay, linkage to broader Mundum trekking route and additional places of historic importance.
