The Valley Investigation Office, Kathmandu has arrested a person for duping more than 600 foreign employment aspirants. The 32-year-old fraudster was made public by the police on Thursday.

Bikash Tamang (Waiba), 32, hailing from Konjyosom Rural Municipality-4 in Lalitpur, was arrested in Lele, Lalitpur. SSP Somendra Singh Rathore said Tamang deceived hundreds of individuals by falsely promising foreign employment.

“He amassed millions of rupees doing so as he duped around 600 people,” said Rathore.

These people falsely promised jobs in various European countries such as Malta, Poland, Croatia, and Canada by Tamang. He assured the victims that he would facilitate their employment in these countries, Rathore said.

Tamang had served as an agent for various human resource recruitment offices, including Ayus Manpower, since 2016, facilitating the deployment of individuals to Dubai, Qatar, and Malaysia. However, since 2021, he had been on the run, hiding in both Nepal and India, following a case filed against him for fraud and criminal gain.

Additionally, the police investigation revealed that he was operating an educational consultancy in Balaju under a false identity card. Notably, government employees were also among those deceived by him, leading some of them to resign from their jobs, enticed by promises of employment in Europe.
