Covid sub-variant JN.1 found in 7 Nepalis

Kathmandu, January 9

The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed the new Covid sub-variant JN.1 has been found in Nepal. This particular sub-variant has been reported to be spreading in various countries in recent weeks.

Issuing a press statement on Monday, the Ministry has asked one and all to exercise precautionary measures after the detection of sub-variant JN.1.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki said that seven samples out of 16 collected from different parts of the country from different age groups confirmed the detection of a sub-variant of omicron.

The Ministry has urged to avoid crowds and gatherings, maintain physical distance, continue using masks and regularly wash hands with soap and water.
