Kathmandu, April 1

The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal filed by the CPN-Maoist Centre’s chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal requesting for a review of its earlier order that ended the merger between the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, thereby reviving the parties to their pre-2018 status.

A full bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana and justices Tej Bahadur KC and Prakash Kumar Dhungana decided not to accept the appeal today.

Dahal, accompanied by the party’s other leaders, went to the court on Tuesday and registered the appeal. Earlier last week, his party had decided to seek a revision from the court.

On March 7, a verdict by the Supreme Court had revived the UML and the Maoist Centre by declaring the 2018 unification between them illegitimate.
