Nepal Covid-19 tally: 5,008 new cases in 24 hours, 2,672 in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, October 10

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 105,684 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry says 5,008 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 2,672 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 19,320 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 164,557 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 30,818 cases are active currently. Among them, 17,164 are in home isolation, and 13,654 are hospitalised. Likewise, 321 are in intensive care units, and 77 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 74,252 people have achieved recovery whereas 614 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 1,229 people have been discharged whereas 14 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 70.2 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Sunsari, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, Banke, Rupandehi, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases each. Manang and Mustang do not have any active cases.

Over 4,600 people are quarantined across the country.
