Kathmandu, July 22
Traffic police in Kathmandu have begun a crackdown on drunk driving after a gap of around four months.
The system of checking drivers for the influence of alcohol and taking action against them was halted in March when the fears of coronavirus infection grew in the city. Now, with the government lifting the four-month-long lockdown, the cases of drunk driving might increase, hence the crackdown has restarted, informs SSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division chief.
However, the police personnel would still maintain the necessary precautions against infection, according to him.
