A female rhinoceros died after getting stuck in a swamp near the Kuchwani Post in Chitwan National Park (CNP) this morning, officials said.
Park Assistant Conservation Officer Abhiyan Pathak confirmed the death. According to reports,
the animal got stuck in the swamp on Saturday and was pulled out dead with the help of an elephant. The swamp was created by the massive floods in the area last month.
On August 8, a rhino had died following a collision with another rhino near Icherni Post on the CNP’s eastern sector. Twenty-five rhinos died in Chitwan during the last fiscal year due to various causes, according to CPN’s Information Officer, Nurendra Aryal.
