Kathmandu, July 21
Nepali airline companies have been removed from the Significant Security Concerns (SSeC) list of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
Nepal was on the list since 2013 and the decision to remove was made on Thursday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal informed at a press meet in Kathmandu today.
Earlier from July 4 to 11, a two-member delegation of the ICAO had visited Nepal to study aviation laws and situation of flight operations here.
Meanwhile, the CAAN clarified that Nepali airlines are yet to be removed from the Air Safety list of European Commission.
“But, we will appeal to the Commission to remove us from the list based on the ICAO decision,” CAAN Director General Sanjiv Gautam says, “But, there is a slim chance of removal just because of this report.”
The ban on Nepali airlines in the European sky had been imposed in December 2013 on 18 airline companies of the Himalayan country including the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation.
