Nine people have died in a bus accident in Khodpe, Patan municipality of Baitadi on Thursday night.
The four-wheeler (Na 5 Kha 5141) heading towards Mahendranagar of Kanchanpur from Ganna of Darchula fell around 500 metres down the road at around 10:30 pm yesterday, according to police.
Eight persons died on the spot whereas one succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Dadeldhura Hospital.
SSP Mukesh Kumar Singh says only one of the victim has been identified. He was police constable Rana Bahadur Chand stationed at Hapure Area Police Office in Dang.
Other 34 people have sustained injuries in the incident. Of them, seven are critical, according to SSP Singh. The critically injured passengers have been referred to Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi for further treatment.
Police have suspected the driver losing his control over the vehicle resulted in the accident. Further investigation is underway.
