Kathmandu, August 9
The US Embassy in Nepal has selected 55 youth from across the country for the US Embassy Youth Council Nepal (USYC Nepal) 2026 cohort.
The embassy held the new group’s inaugural session with participants chosen from more than 1,600 applicants.
Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom congratulated the selected participants, expressing confidence that they would play an important role in driving innovation, economic growth and positive change in their communities.
According to the embassy, over the course of the one-year term, members of the group will develop leadership skills while expanding their network of contacts with peers and experts across various sectors. The program also aims to prepare them for future opportunities that benefit Nepal, the embassy said.
Noting that the United States is marking 250 years of independence, the embassy said programs like USYC Nepal demonstrate America’s commitment to working with Nepal’s next generation of leaders across various professional fields.
The embassy said a prosperous Nepal would create new opportunities for trade, innovation and long-term cooperation, benefiting both Nepal and the United States.
