Chandrauta, March 8
A woman has survived an acid attack in Maharajgunj municipality-1 in Kapilvastu district in Province 5.
The survivor is 51-year-old Bedamati Devi Gupta of the same locality. She is out of danger, according to Ward Police Office, Chandrauta’s Police Inspector Dipesh Kharel.
The perpetrator is said to be her neighbour Hari Naryan Barai, who threw corrosive substances on her body when Gupta was insisting that he should pay for a cricket bat he had broken. The accused is the owner of a battery repairing centre.
Police have confiscated five liters of acid from his shop. He is to be tried under a murder attempt case.
