5 killed in bus-tipper collision in Banke

Kathmandu, April 17

At least five persons died when a bus and a tipper collided head-on at Rohini Khola in Kohalpur municipality of the Banke district in western Nepal on Friday evening.

Banke’s Chief District Officer Shiva Ram Gelal says the bus (Me 1 Kha 3347) heading to Dharan from Surkhet had collided with a tipper, whose registration number has not been identified yet, at around 5:45 pm yesterday.

Other seven persons have sustained injuries in the accident, and they are undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Medical College Teaching Hospital in the district.

The victims are yet to be identified, but the Kohalpur Area Police Office informs two people travelling on the tipper including its driver and three bus passengers died.

Security personnel assisted by two cranes and three excavators had rescued the injured from the incident site.
