26-year-old woman arrested for allegedly planting explosive in Jhapa

Jhapa, May 13

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly planting a ‘socket bomb’ at the garage of Suryodaya Yatayat Pvt Ltd office in the district on Sunday.

The improvised explosive device had exploded this morning at the office in Mechinagar.

The arrestee Smriti Rijal is affiliated to Nepal Communist Party, informed SP Bishnu KC at the Jhapa District Polcice Office.

Two buses (Me 1 Kha 2733 and Me 1 Kha 2726), their window glasses, diesel tanks and other parts of the vehicles were damaged in the fire.

The Biplav-led Maoist has announced a protest programme across the country affecting the lives of hundreds of Nepalis.

Vehicular movement has been halted in various districts and shops have also been shut citing the protest.
