The Election Commission says the average turnout of voters in 35 districts of provinces 1, 5 and 7 that are holding local level elections is around 25 per cent.

Of total 8,364 voting centres, some centres are yet to begin voting due to rainfall, according to the Election Commission.

“Despite the rainfall,” it says, “We have been reported that voters have been queuing up peacefully for voting.”

The voting had started at 7 am and will last till 5 pm.

Total 15,038 representatives will be elected in one metropolitan city, seven sub-metropolitan cities, 111 municipalities and 215 rural municipalities today.

However, 41 of them have already been elected unopposed.
