2 killed, 6 injured in Dhading landslide

Kathmandu, July 3

Two persons have died after a landslide buried five vehicles in the Benighat Rorang rural municipality of the Dhading district along the Prithvi Highway on Friday. 

According to the Dhading District Police office, the deceased have been identified as Birbal Praja (18) of Rapti municipality-6 and Indian national Soni Devi (43). The event inflicted injuries to six others.

The deceased were on board the vehicles that were buried by the landslides. Police informed Praja was on board the truck Na 8 Kha 4540 while Devi was on board another truck Na 7 Kha 320. 

Devi was found dead on the spot whereas Praja was rescued and rushed to Gandaki Hospital, Pokhara, for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries, said DPO Inspector Ranjan Awale.

A joint team from Area Police Office Gajuri and Area Police Office Benighat have been mobilised in the area for rescue operations. Locals and officials from the Department of Roads are aiding the police for the said operation.
