17 parties awaiting registration

A total of 17 political parties are currently awaiting registration at the Election Commission.

According to the Commission’s information officer, Suman Ghimire, one party has requested to withdraw its registration application, while 17 others remain under review.

After studying the documents, the Commission will decide whether the submitted details meet the required criteria. Parties that fulfill all requirements will receive an official certificate, while those with incomplete documents will be asked to make corrections.

As per the Commission’s approved schedule, political parties wishing to participate in the upcoming election must obtain their registration certificates by Kartik 30.

Political party registration for election purposes will take place from Mangsir 1–10. For the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system, offices of election officers will be established from Magh 2.

Election campaigning will be held from Falgun 3–18, followed by a silence period. Voting for both electoral systems is scheduled for Falgun 21 from 7 am to 5 pm, after which vote counting will begin once ballot boxes from both systems are collected.

For the proportional representation system, election officer offices will be set up from Mangsir 15, and parties will be required to submit their closed lists on Poush 18–19.

According to the schedule, political parties must obtain their registration certificates by Kartik 30 and then formally register for election purposes between November 16 and 25.
