Number of registered political parties reaches 132

The Hamro Party Nepal has received its party registration certificate. With this, the number of registered political parties at the Election Commission has reached 132.

According to the Commission, 13 new parties have been registered since the announcement of the House of Representatives election date. The election date was set on September 12. On the recommendation of the interim government, President Ram Chandra Paudel scheduled the House of Representatives election for March 5.

To participate in the election, political parties must register specifically for election purposes. A total of 56 parties have registered to take part in the House of Representatives election.

The deadline for election-specific party registration is November 26. Parties registered by that date will be eligible to contest the elections.

As per the first-past-the-post election schedule, candidates must file their nominations on January 19, 2026. The same evening, the list of candidates will be published. Complaints against nominees can be filed on January 20. Scrutiny and decisions on complaints and nomination papers will take place on January 21, 2026 followed by a revised list of candidates. Candidates may withdraw their nominations on January 22, after which the final list will be published and election symbols will be allocated.
