UML obstructs House meeting Friday as well

CPN-UML lawmakers obstruct the House meeting.

Kathmandu, May 26

The main opposition party CPN-UML obstructed the Parliament meeting on Friday as well.

As soon as the meeting began at 1 pm as scheduled, the opposition lawmakers stood up from their seats to protest the government decision to increase the number of local levels in Terai region.

The party has been demanding that the decision be withdrawn as it was unconstitutional.

Meanwhile, Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar has called the next meeting for 4 pm today itself.

The UML had obstructed the House meeting yesterday as well.

The Parliament Secretariat had already fixed agendas for today’s meeting which included endorsement of a vote of thanks for the President for her address to the House yesterday and tabling of the government’s annual policies and programmes for discussion among others.
