Kathmandu, March 7
Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda has summoned Saptari’s Chief District Officer and police chief to Kathmandu a day after three people were killed in Rajbiraj after security forces opened fire on demonstrators.
According to the Prime Minister’s secretariat, Prachanda called Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi early morning to instruct him to summon CDO Uddav Prasad Timsina and SP Diwesh Lohani to Kathmandu. “The duo aren’t being recalled, the Prime Minister just wants to know why security forces opened fire,” an aide to Prachanda said.
At least four people were killed on Monday in Rajbiraj as locals threatened to disrupt a UML programme.
