SAFF 2018: Nepal beat Bhutan in one-sided encounter

Nepal trounced Bhutan 4-0 in their second match in the SAFF Championship football tournament in Bangladesh.

In the match held at Bangabandhu stadium in Dhaka, Nepal took the lead in the 21st minute with a goal by Ananta Tamang. The first half ended 1-0 and Nepal scored three more goals in the second half to secure three important points.

The second goal came in the 70th minute when Sunil Bal scored a rebound from an unsuccessful spot kick by Bimal Ghartimagar. Nepal won the penalty after Nirajan Khadka was fouled inside the box by a Bhutanese defender.
Bharat Khawas scored the third goal of the match in the 77th minute while Nirajan Khadka added a fourth in the 88th minute.

The win today boosts Nepal’s possibility to reach the semi-final. Bhutan has been knocked out from the tournament. Nepal started with a loss in the tournament, facing a 1-2 loss at the hands of Pakistan. Nepal will now play its final league match against hosts Bangladesh on Saturday.
