Parliamentary hearing with CIAA Chief nominee Thursday

File: Navin Kumar Ghimire

Kathmandu, September 18

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee on Tuesday decided to conduct a hearing with Navin Kumar Ghimire, who has been nominated for the vacant position of Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, this Thursday.

An incumbent commissioner of the constitutional anti-corruption watchdog, Ghimire was picked for the top position by the Constitutional Council on September 5.

It has been learned that the Commission did not receive any complaint against Ghimire though it had allocated 10 days to public to file grievances against him.

After the endorsement of Committee, Ghimire has to be appointed by the President to assume the top position.

The position is vacant since the retirement of Deep Basnyat in Febeuary. Ghimire, as the senior-most commissioner, has been taking charge of the Commission since then.
