Nepal register first-ever ODI series win

Kathmandu, January 28

Nepal have registered their first ever ODI series win after defeating the UAE by 4 wickets in the third of the three-match series played in Dubai.

Skipper Paras Khadka scored a century to guide Nepal to the historic win. It was Sompal Kami who finished off the match with a six in the fourth ball of the 44th over.

Winning the toss, Nepal elected to field first. Pacers Sompal Kami and Karan KC displayed a disciplined bowling performance to restrict the UAE to 147 runs in 41 overs. At one point, the hosts were reeling at 2 runs for the loss of two wickets. But the UAE put up a formidable challenge in the final 10 overs scoring over 100 runs. The home side’s Shaiman Anward scored 87 off 70 while Mohammad Boota scored an unbeaten 59 to guide his team to a challenging score of 254 runs.

Nepal and UAE had gone into the match with the series drawn at 1-1. This is Nepal’s second ODI series, the first one against the Netherlands ended in a 1-1 draw.
