Update: Pilot killed, 2 rescued as Nepal Army plane overshoots runway in Bajura

Kathmandu, May 30

A person was killed whereas two others were rescued when a Nepal Army airplane overshot the runway in Kolti of Bajura district on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Colonel Kalyan Gurung, who was piloting the plane.

The NA48 Skytruck aircraft had taken off Surkhet for Simikot of Humla this morning. The aircraft had made an emergency landing at the Kolti Airport owing to bad weather in Simikot.

First-class Warrant Officer Purna Bahadur Khadka and Anita Aale have sustained injuries.

They have been taken to Nepalgunj for treatment on a Sir Air craft.

Kathmandu, May 30

A Nepal Army aeroplane overshot the runway in Kolti of Bajura district on Tuesday. An occupant has been rescued, Chief District Officer Devendra Lamichhane informs.

The Skytruck had taken off for Humla, but had made an emergency landing at the Kolti Airport owing to the unfavourable weather.

While landing, the aircraft had slipped on the runway and arrived at a paddy field.

The aircraft immediately caught fire, but army personnel and locals immediately doused the fire.

The number of occupants of the aeroplane is not immediately known.
