The Loksewa Aayog (Public Service Commission) should be allowed to call applications for vacant positions in the civil service and carry out the recruitment process as per the rule this year as well, the State Affairs Committee of Parliament has said.

Earlier, the government had said the Commission would not be allowed to recruit staff this year as the government staff would be adjusted in the newly created federal structure.

The government decision, however, was criticised citing it would increase the size of unemployed population and send skilled human resources abroad. Considering the criticisms, the House panel made the order to government not to stop the recruitment, says SAC Chairperson Dil Bahadur Gharti.

Meanwhile, the Commission has welcomed the decision.

“If the recruitment process was halted for the entire year, it would suggest that the Commission was suspended. Likewise, stopping a constitutional body from its work was against the democratic system,” the Commission’s spokesperson Laxmi Bilas Koirala says, “The lawmakers took a wise decision.”
