JICA sends new chief representative to Nepal

Kathmandu, November 22

Japan has changed the chief of its bilateral cooperation agency in Nepal.

Japan International Cooperation Agency says Yumiko Asakuma has been appointed its Chief Representative to Nepal. Asakuma will replace Jun Sakuma, who completed his three year term recently.

Asakuma was working as Director General in Yokohama Centre of JICA before assuming her role in Nepal.

She began her career in JICA in 1993 in the social development cooperation department and diversified her work experience in various departments of JICA office, such as industrial and mining development study, grant aid cooperation, training group and representative of JICA India office.

She also served as the Chief Representative of JICA Bhutan Office from December 2012 to March 2016.

Meanwhile, the new official said she was privileged to lead JICA Nepal Office and expressed her commitment in providing continued support to the people and government of Nepal.
