India is eager to work with new govt: Envoy Puri tells VP Pun

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri says his country is eager to work with the new government in Nepal.

Paying a courtesy call on Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun at the Vice-President’s Office, Bahadur Bhawan, today, the Ambassador said results of recent provincial and federal parliamentary elections were a decision of the sovereign people; therefore, the Indian government welcomed and respected it.

Pun’s press coordinator Manoj Gharti Magar told media after the meeting that Puri said India would extend its support to development of technologies, infrastructures, hydropower and trade sectors of Nepal.

Meanwhile, Pun extended his greetings to India’s president, vice-president, prime minister, leaders and people on the occasion of 70th Indian Republic Day, to be celebrated on January 26.

He added that historical ties between the two countries should be strengthened further as Nepal was heading towards political stability and prosperity after recent polls.
